As you might know, I’m a software engineer by profession who was once an engineering student and I find myself qualified to express my views on our current education system and you all are free to share your views in the comment section below.

Biggest Cons and Loopholes
#1 Fear leads the education in India
That’s the naked truth of our education system.
All my school life, I have been recursively told that “if you don’t study, you won’t survive”, and I can bet that majority of students have been told the same and are still being told to do the same.
And I must say (with great regret), that it is true.
If you do not have a degree in India, and you come in the average household category, you are ruined. It is not like average people are not good enough but it is our education system that grades people based on their ability to score marks in schools/colleges.
You will have no place to go to.
You cannot start your own business out of the blue (you can, but chances are sleek) and without a degree, you won’t get any opportunities to apply for jobs, regardless of the fact whether you are capable or not.
According to me, education is a learning process and it’s not just the degree that a person holds but the actual knowledge that he carries with him. Education is not bound to the bookish knowledge, it’s definitely more than that. If the basic foundation of our education system is fear, then how can we expect our youth to excel in it.

Rancho – Because you’re a coward, scared of the future.
That is our education system after all.
#2 Each and every student is measured on the same scale
Nobody asks us, what we want to become. We are given definite paths at the very beginning of our lives, and we are forced to walk on those tracks.
Why we have to study the same stupid things again and again even our interest is in something totally different.
Why each and every single student measured on the same scale?
We constantly teach students morally that each and every person living on this earth is different but then too we measure them all with the same measuring equipment.
Nobody can pursue their passion in this bookish society where everything starts with a book and ends with a degree.
There are many friends who studied with me who never wanted to do the engineering at the first place, but because of their family pressure, they opted for it.
Now, who is to be blamed?
Our education system must understand the fact that each and every student is different and they must be taught and educated in the way his real strengths are. Only then he can grow up to be a human resource for his/her nation. Then there will be more Entrepreneurs in this country rather than the job seekers holding their degrees.
#3 Education in India has become a source of business
I think we are all aware of this fact. Let’s talk some facts here…
Engineering colleges have been springing up like wild mushrooms in India in the last few years. Their number has gone up from a not too modest 1,511 colleges in 2006-07 to an astoundingly high 3,345Â in 2014-15.
Approximately 1.5 million engineers are being graduated each year from these engineering colleges.
That’s not it, about 25-33% of these engineers do not get a job at all. And the fortunate ones that get a job, their pay scale is well below their technical qualification because there are less demand and more supply. Why is this happening?
Well, one reason is that they are not getting the industry level exposure, just the bookish knowledge and a degree.
And that is because a few people made it business and then other people started following them.
You may google about the revenue generated by the average college in India and the people placed from that college. You will get the scenario.
Whereas, in Dubai, primary and secondary education is totally free of cost and it is compulsory for each student to opt for it.
Money is driving the education in India. And the above figures are just for the engineering colleges in India. There are many such colleges.
#4 Teaching is for the Loser
In India, teaching is the last thing a person wants to take, even though his/her passion is teaching.
Why?
Because in India teachers are not at all paid well as compared to the other foreign nations such as the US.
The average teacher salary in private school in India is somewhere around 2-2.5 Lakhs per year, and we expect so much from our teacher.
I ask you, would you want to become a teacher in India with this type of pay scale.
Although, I find myself really lucky to have such great teachers around me during my high school and so unfortunate to have the worst teachers during my college days. I know I shouldn’t say this, but it’s my personal opinion and they know it too.
#5 We believe more on Grades and Certificates
We believe in taking admission in IITs and IIMs, rather we should believe in skills. We shouldn’t care about the institution of education more, all we must see is what a person has learnt during his/her schooling.
I would like to end it here and again I would like to bring it to notice that these are my personal opinions. This is how I feel and has experienced my education system to be.
There are many loopholes in our system.
The system that we follow today was once excellent, but that was at the time of our independence when more and more people needed to be taught and educated.
But, time has changed and we should also change.
The system today will end the creativity in students and only about 12% of the students will live their dream life and rest will dream of a life.
